4 ways to forward Gmail to Slack

Want important emails to show up in Slack so nothing slips through? Here are four ways to do it, compared by what they do, the plan you need, and the effort involved.

The short answer: pick by what you need

2. Forward to SlackbotYes (arrives in your own DM)All plansNo

If you just want emails in a channel, 1 is enough. If only you need to see them, 2 works. To share the odd email, use 3. If you also want to work on replies inside Slack, use 4.

1. A Slack channel email address + Gmail forwarding

Create a dedicated email address for a Slack channel (or DM) and forward Gmail to it automatically. Channel email addresses are available on Slack's paid plans (Slack Help).

  1. In Slack, open the channel, click the channel name → the Automations tab → Send emails to this channel → Get Email Address.
  2. In Gmail, go to Settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address, and enter that address. A confirmation email arrives in the channel; confirm it with the link inside.
  3. To forward only some emails, create a Gmail filter and forward matching emails to that address (Gmail Help).

Note: in a company Google Workspace, an admin may have turned automatic forwarding off (it's on by default; Google Workspace Help). If so, Gmail settings won't show the forwarding option.

2. Forward to Slackbot (arrives in your DM)

In Slack, go to Preferences → Messages & media → Bring emails into Slack → Get a Forwarding Address, and use that address in a Gmail forwarding rule. It works on all plans, but emails arrive in your DM with Slackbot, not in a team channel.

3. Slack for Gmail (add-on)

Adds a Slack icon to Gmail's side panel so you can send the open email to a channel or person. It works on all plans. It isn't automatic — you send emails one by one — so it suits occasional sharing. If you can't install it in a company Google Workspace, an admin needs to approve it.

4. SuccocoPon (reply drafts right in Slack)

SuccocoPon automatically sends only the Gmail emails with the labels you choose to the Slack channels you pick. From the buttons on each post, AI writes a reply draft that you refine in Slack and save to your Gmail drafts. A person always reviews and sends from Gmail.

  • It doesn't use Gmail's automatic forwarding (you connect your Google account, and it reads only emails with the labels you choose).
  • Attachments arrive in the Slack thread too.
  • Each label can go to a different channel (even across multiple Slack workspaces).

It's free for 14 days, no card needed. See How to reply to email from Slack for the reply flow and the pricing page for prices.
